Its a party for the planet

Its Earth Month, and last Saturday Sura and I hosted an Earth themed party (although we recycle after and use re-usable cups at every party, duh). Our loverly-Jordan- freaked out on our invite and insisted it be STRICTLY earth themed. From Jordan:
WHY ISN'T THE THEME EARTH MONTH?!?!
LIKE WEAR EARTHY THINGS?!?
LIKE FLOWERS ASND MOSS AND DIRT?!?!
AND MUD?!?
AND NOTHING?!
AND GLOBES?!?!

WHY NOT EARTH THEMED???
LIKE THE ELEMENTS??
LIKE FIRE AND WATER
AND EARTH????
WHY NOT EARTH????

So we done went and did it.I was a flower child, Katie was a Native American-because they are one with the earth. BONUS! It was a recycled costume!
Babs was Paper or Plastic and Jordan was Solar Panels!
And here is Kyle, fuxing with our Roomba.

Tara (and Jen- not pictured) came- these are girls I went to 6th grade with. That I haven't seen in a zillion years, but we've recently rekindled our love. Its soooo fab. I love my return to Brooklyn, and my roots.
And Mersault, well he's just a party animal.

John Waters

John Waters is a pilgrim.
He's not. He's an amazing artist. I own a book of photography shot by Todd Oldham, and its of John Water's house.
Aparently John likes fake food alot and has a massive collection of the stuff all around his house. He also collects books. I think bibliophile is an understatement. He literally has to make tables out of his books, because there are so many. Sounds wonderful to me.
Anyways- Julie invited me to check out his artz at the Marianne Boesky Gallery last Thursday. So while everyone was standing around Topshop, trying to get a glimpse of Kate (which I get, really I do! We love you Kate!) I spotted not just John Waters himself, but loverly Debbie Harry.
There she is (center) posh as ever. And there is ol' Johnny boy, to the right.
Meat.
Because it was SO crowded, I couldn't get the best shots of the work- but this one says "Old Chickens Make Good Soup."
Giant Roach Killer.

Ike and Tina.

Massice La Mer creme.
Tara Reid on a butt, this is a close up of that:

Me and Julie wanted to me really tacky and take a picture with John, but then we couldn't get close enough. He's hawt.

Nora-rigonals

Alex really wanted to do a photo shoot- and I feed my narcissism from time to time...
Considering I live in an amazing area near all sorts of cool places to take pictures, we had a blast. AND I was able to finally document some of the fashions I've been working on. Please fawn over all my "Nora-rigonals" as Alex dubbed them.
I picked out some of my favorite photos from the shoot.
So much fun.I saw a Port-a-Potty in the distance and joked about taking a picture there. But Alex thought it was a brilliant idea- and thus some of my favorite photos came from the grody port-a-potty. It was full...

I'm tooting my own horn, I made all that damn shit, well not the shoes but I did have the good sense to buy those.
DISCLAIMER: I did not make this Property of my Kids shirt. Alex found it in a thrift store in Nebraska.
We both love that the "D" in "kids" is a padlock. MOMZ ON LOCK DOWN.

LATE OF THE PIER- and some lovely crazies in furry outfits

Last night I went to see Late of the Pier for the second time. They have gotten even better at playing live since I last saw them, if that is possible. And the crowd was WAY into them, which its always better to see a band when the crowd already loves on them.
I always manage to stand next to the one guy who hates his life and won't dance- AND TEXTS during the show. It's like- come on- you're at a concert, turn the phone off!
So I totes checked my camera at the coat check and didn't get to take photos of the show. Don't cry. I've got something equally good- check it.

Amazing bands playing in the subway for free!

Guggenheim

I wasn't really allowed to take pictures at the Gugg, so I cheated.

The art was all modern or before, stopping at 1989, if I'm not mistaken, and all Asian influenced, kinda. Honestly sometimes it felt like the curator was stretching the work to make it fit the theme. But what do I know- I have a BFA, I'm not the curator of a world famous museum.
There was a classic Warhol film of the dude sleeping, and that AWFUL video of a woman with a bunch of acupuncture needles in her face, reading something about her dead husband (I think) in monotone...
and alot of art about calligraphy, which just does not appeal to me at all.
BUT! I can get behind trees and a wall of beer.

These last two videos of the only two contemporary works were cool- the first a kinetic sculpture- that made sounds, worked with the whole space of the museum, and dealt with dropping cut up books- and the second a bizzareo sensory altering room. Ch-ch-check it out!
