the Campbell Apartment

I met with my ladies at the Campbell Apartment at Grand Central Station for a lovely round of drinks, courtesy of my Investment Banker friend who's extremely stressful life includes bonuses that are practically double my yearly salary. My darling friends, since 7th grade, are The Ladies. Not that we call ourselves that...

We try to meet once a month, all of us, since we all have exciting things going on in our lives at the moment. Even though we could kill each other sometimes and we're all so crazily different (The Nut-Banker, The Jew-Finacer, The Braced-Writer and me, The PR-Idealist, although no labels can hold us! And we really still have no idea where we are going to end up) there is no one who I am as close to with. They are my life blood and I am blessed to have such three wonderful people in my life.
We played my favorite game: Who is going to get married first? It's a little different now than it was in high-school considering especially since two of us are totes single, and two of us are in mildly serious relationships.
Gossip Girl tidbit: They filmed the scene where Serena and Nate first do it in the Campbell Apartment, btw.
ALSO, the drinks are hella expensive, so make sure you have rich friends, or ummm you are rich. In that case, take me with you.

Broken Angel

Nick and I just walked right into this house without looking for it or anything. This was the backdrop for Dave Chappelle's Block Party movie. Called "Broken Angel," it was pretty amazing in its glory, but now I suppose the city got the best of the artsy couple and their haphazardous house. This is all that is left, I'm guessing.
It's still really nice to look at, even without extra homemade stories at the top. Like a skeleton to remind us what once was.
I got to thinking how cool it would be to peek inside, so I walked up the door, thinking I could look into the peep hole. I got pretty close before the dog inside started barking which almost made me pee myself.

A Dog on a Motorcycle

I think I just have to start a photo series called:
The Best Thing You Will Ever See.
We can call the photo below the first, the inspiration, and hardest (impossible) to top.

I just want to point out some nice details, like the the dog is straddling the bike, wearing sunglasses fitted just for him, and the man in the car behind them is also staring straight at the camera and smiling profusely. Let it to be know that Sura and I SCREAMED about ten thousand "Oh My God!!!!"s at them, and then later showed the photos to our waitress. How could you not? Really?
And all my god mother could say was "But the poor dog! What if he gets into an accident!? He's not wearing a helmet!" I agree. Hey Biker Dude, you managed to fit sunglasses on your dog, hows about a helmet?

Agyness Dyen is a dj.

It was baller.
Granted, the night didn't start until like 1 in the AM but who even cares? I got to be a whole yardstick away from Agyness Dyen, supermodel and part-time dj, apparently. With an Albert Hammond Jr (from the Strokes) to assist. And Richie Rich to...enjoy? look fabulous? be a sailor?
The night ended with us hollering at Chris Noth (aka Mr. Big) but before we could snap a photo, the bouncer moved the camera and shouted "No Pictures!"at us. I did, however, get to tell him (Noth, not the bouncer) that I grew up in Brooklyn and he seemed not to care!

The East River Waterfalls

Nick and I went to my favorite place in the whole world, The Promenade in Brooklyn, and checked out the water falls. They are kinda cool. Not really set up for viewing from the Brooklyn side, all you see is scaffolding, but there is water pouring out the other side. And way out in the distance you can see another one at Governors Island. It was very strange to see this landscape which has become totally ingrained in my memory from my younger years, distorted by these massive high-tech waterfalls. Very strangely it reminded me of a rustic old wooden table with the lucite Phillipe Stark chairs surrounding it. Something doesn't match, but it's kinda cool anyways.

For whatever reason, the one under the Brooklyn Bridge was not working. Lame.

Dolce and Gabbana

I don't really ever do product reviews/opinions of other people's stuff, but THIS IS AMAZING! Thank you Dolce and Gabbana (although I could be wrong about that, that's what I read as the caption but their spring summer 09 runway show is very different, and also outstanding)
What does this suit say?
If you can pull it off (and that's trick-sy) without looking contrived or starving for attention, you are the most confident and sexy man, probably ever. I can think of only a select few who could rock this outfit. Because you wouldn't just wear it, you'd fuckin' rock it.

Grand Army Plaza Farmer's Market

Every weekend at Grand Army Plaza during the warm months there is a farmer's market. I love a good farmer's market: local, seasonal, fresh, sustainable, and usually less packaging. What more could you ask for? One might say: lower prices! Whatever, I'm happy to spend the money on something I believe in.
Nick and I decided to go shopping hungry (bad idea) and buy breakfast fixin's. We bought eggs, peppers, onions, portobello mushrooms, fresh milk, the most amazing cheese, and freshly baked baguette.

We made an amazing omlette-like-thing, we were greedy and put to many things into it for the eggs to really hold together. It was still delicious to eat.And the mushroom seller had me take a photo of these CRAZY poufy mushrooms, which I did not purchase. I'm a portobello girl, really.
