Okay- so I want to be a model, kinda sorta

Rebecca told me that I should do this, so I said what the hay? (hey?)
By "this" I mean a model search for United Colors of Benetton.
you should vote-a-lote for me, and then maybe United Colors of Benetton will want me to be a pretty face in their campaign.

Hunter MFA: part one

Hunter has some really great grad students, a fantastic MFA program and my most favorite open studios. The spirit is just, what I like to call, super fun.
Take this charcoal drawing of tires for instance. I love this artist. Last time I was in her studio she had done some amazing charcoal drawings of old cast iron radiators that were so well done they looked almost photographic, and somehow appeared to have the texture of velvet at the same time. Her subject matter is always intriguing and she manages to keep a signature look while not repeating herself, switching it up and maintaining my interest.

Then there was this. At first glance I want to say a- what a failure and b- ugh typical art school nonsense. But once I disregard the awful way the sheet with the human pattern pieces is displayed, and turn away from the it-puts-the-lotion-on-its-skin concept on a whole, and try to forget the very little person awkwardly standing around with a trying-to-be-demure-but-its-not-working white suit on, I can appreciate the aesthetic quality of.... never mind I just talked myself out of it.I chose the rest of these because they play with light. You can call me a wanna-be curator!

Five Boro Bike Tour

Woooo! I just registered for the 5-boro-bike-tour! I'm totally amped and a wee bit scared. 42 miles! On a bike! I'm so going to suffer biker's butt.
So who's with me? Training in Central Park? Who wants to ride down FDR with me and no cars? Who wants to ride a mile uphill on the Verrazano Bridge? Who wants to touch all FIVE BOROUGHS in ONE DAY!?
Register here.

Mo Money MoSex

Because I work in a tres cool office, for the holidays in lieu of a get drunk and make out with the mailroom boy in the copy room, our office party was a delicious lunch followed by a trip to the Museum of Sex. No- it was not at all awkward to walk into the room with all the porns screening at once with my boss.
There was a mildly interesting photo exhibition of people in the porn industry taken at the Big Porn Convention (not its real name) held every year. Who knew that was a thing? All the regulars were there, like Ron Jeremy and Jenna Jameson, and the Real Doll maker. But then there were a bunch of faces I didn't know. I guess I'm just a little uneducated...
But fear not! Educational pamphlets are available. From the 50's! Some illustrations of spanking and big ol' boot-tay.

And the ever popular Lap Juicer. Please take note of the glass under the chair, to collect the lap juice presumably.

The Museum was okay. Not thrilling. I did, however, get to touch a real doll for the first (and only) time. Exhilarating.

Happy Thankful Groundhogs Day Parade

Pikachu saw his shadow! Five more years of parades!

Okay so its a bit of a reach-all the way back to November, but worth talking about because
-I woke up way earlier than I do even for work (to which I am habitually and consistently 15 minutes late to every morning. What can I say? I'm most definitely not a morning person, its a shortcoming of mine that I've come to terms with. I've got plenty of, ummm, tall comings. (Nora- people call those admirable qualities, not tall comings.))
-Brian hosted a very cool Parade Watching par-tay complete with bagels and great views of the parade. Which led to a great photo of spider man's ass.
I also managed to get some really great images of the parade watchers from other buildings. Everyone was slightly risking their lives by dangling their upper torsos out of the 26th floor window in hopes of watching the parade. Okay- it wasn’t really that dangerous at all- just really cool. The marching bands look so different from a birds eye view, and since we were much higher than any of the balloons, for the first time I was looking down at them instead of looking up.

Dodecahedrons! The posh-est parade balloon, and definitely the most memorable.
Happy Groundhog's Day, ya'll. 6 more weeks of winter- as if we expected anything else in the first week of February. Its cold like a mother and that isn't changing for at least 6 weeks. A-doi, Puxatony Phil.

Big Apple Circus: Part Two

I'm not even sure how to talk about this Romeo and Juliet-splits-on-two-horses act.
Well, lets just leave it at then, shall we?

So while most of the acts were kinda lame, this one was BALLER! Using just their body weight alone, these two performers spun around and around the axis at dizzying speeds, and at the apex of the spin they would JUMP (!) to increase the momentum. And potentially fall out of the circle. It was nutty and even though in reality it was the same thing over and over (and over and over...) I was completely memorized.
At the end of the act the performers ran around the outside of the circle- really really fast- while the thing was spinning around. UGH SO COOL!

Housewarming Pizzartay

Babs just moved to Gossip Girl land. Well not just, but rather recently. And then threw a fantastic party. All the important celebs were in attendance.

The party started out well, with plenty of booze. But an hour in someone got the bright (you'll see the pun in a second) idea to turn off the lights (see what I did there?) and then the real fun started.
Yeah, that's right, motha fuckin glow sticks, biatch. Whatcha gonna do?
Also please note in the background "Parrots Hilton."
These are Bab's co-workers. They are all investment bankers. These two are amazing, and I quite enjoy their straight and narrow company. We come from differnt sides of the track...errr east river, but they are so cool it don't even matter.
Scott is Babs' lil' 'bro. He continually styles himself after Clark Griswald from Vacation. I tell him this every chance I get.

As it turns out, the more lights are off, the more people want to dance. I'm not sure why this is, because I'll dance in the brightest of spots, but whatever makes da peeps want to get down with their bad selves I'm find with. Plus no lights and glow sticks is a simple joy that I'll gladly entertain.
